The Graduation Ceremony was held on April 26, 2018 for our ninth batch of Trainees. Over 100 Trainees graduated from the Post Graduate Diploma in International Education (PGDIE), the Post Graduate Certificate in International Education (PGCIE), and the Cambridge International Diploma Program in Teaching and Learning (CIDTL).
The solemn ceremony commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, the invocation song, and a song composed and dedicated especially for the event by the graduating Trainees of 2018. The morning came alive with the inspiring speeches from the CEO of Indus Trust, Lt. General (Retired) Arjun Ray, PVSM, VSM; Principal, Indus International School, Bangalore, Mrs. Sarojini Rao; Deputy Head, School of Education, Birmingham City University, UK, Prof. Simon Spencer; and ITARI Director, Ms. Mala Palani. Mr. Lalith Prasad, Manager, South India for Cambridge International Education and Ms. Vasundhara Kaul, Program Manager at Drishti, graced the occasion.
Two graduates reflected upon their journey in becoming teachers. One of them stated how her alma mater, ITARI, with the strength of research of its expert faculty helped the Trainees acquire the practice of reflection as a defining habit, among several skills. Another graduating speaker stated that their class was entering the profession as change makers to prepare leaders for a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) world. Ms. Aditi Pant, Vice Principal, Indus International School, Bangalore, shared her reflections as a mentor of the Trainees during their teaching internship.
The graduating teachers lit candles and took the pledge to uphold the values of the profession imbibed at ITARI.
